DNPS BLOG NOVEMBER 2024
its been quite a month has November, but things don't let up as we go into December.
Our first meeting of the month allowed us to look at the new website in detail as well as discuss ways in which the club can move forwards going into 2025. We also started our new year as far as memberships go and currently have nearly thirty people signed up during the month of November which is a testament to the club as well as it's members.
There were several trips out during November including a visit to the Crich Tramway Museum, where we were allowed the opportunity to photograph the wonderful Ragged Victorians. There will be another chance this months as they visit the S.S. Great Britain in Bristol.
Several of us also managed to get up to the Lake District for a couple of days and get some shots of the beautiful landscape that the area provides. We will be planning at least one more trip over the Winter to get to even better locations up there as long as the weather allows us to.
In the middle of the month we had our first “Story Behind the Image” night, which went very well. There was a wide range of photographs that were backed up with some wonderful and sometimes moving stories that went with them. It was a great evening enjoyed by all and one that we will be doing again in the months ahead.
For our last get together in November, we arranged for a meetup at the Manchester Christmas Markets. There is always something worth photographing when you are downtown, from the people going about their lives to the ever growing skyline of fascinating buildings that tower above the city. Add to that a sparkle of Christmas and you suddenly have more than enough to keep pressing the shutter button.
For the month ahead we have two club meetings as well as a few trips out and of course our Chrismas Meal. We have Mike Lawrence on the 4th December at Woodhouses Church with his talk on Editing in Lightroom. We then have our Christmas get together at the cafe on the 11th December at 7.00pm followed by our Christmas meal on the 18th.
We have plans to go to Media City sometime in the next couple of weeks (dates still to be worked out) and some of us will hopefully have another opportunity to photograph the ragged victorians as well later in the month.
If you wish to know about the club and its meetings, just check the “What’s On” page on the website. New members are always welcome, from people still learning to advanced photographers. we try and have something for everyone.
Hope to see you soon..
